23/11/23 - strange bug face devlog
Howdy everyone!
Sephra again, here to update you on our goings on the past week or so:
First things first, we've been getting more organazized about things and Tib has made a Roadmap for us so you can all have a look too:
https://1drv.ms/w/s!Al0fzdjryBaxiZVAz63wBK8gOxURpQ?e=eJzXOt
Of course not much time left in this year but a new one is also in the works for 2024 which will be available from that same link when it's ready, so keep an eye on it if you're so inclined; it's going to be much better for me too being able to refer back to it and focus specifically on what I need to do for the coming milestone, rather than switching between that and whatever my brain decides has to be done in the moment because I just thought about it and surely it would be awesome, etc.
As for the game's progress, I've been focusing on the level making for the most part now Tib's given me all the tools I need and a nice working Amber to test it, and I must say it's been going very well so far; things will follow the progression you're probably used to in the level at this point, but my intention is to make the level a new experience and even a more complex one too, for secret hunters and lore seekers out there who enjoy some exploration!
Seems as though that train crash earlier in the evening disturbed some older parts of the city; and seems as though I'm having a lot of fun with lighting effects too! People have said and I tend to agree, the game could do with a little more moodiness to it than it's had in the past, some more tension; maybe even a flashlight at some point, who's to tell~
---
Tib's been carrying on their good work with the coding, and has been putting in stuff like the dialogue system, an objectives tracker system, working on a system so we can add in some text logs and notes to find out more about the environs and the story, it's great and very easy to work with too, they've made it simple for me to write out the text and get it all hooked up properly without destroying their code like Randy Savage in a lamp shop.
The goal is to get the first few areas up and running, as you can see, with events and NPC interactions and all that jazz so we can show the sort of stuff we've been focusing on, hopefully you'll enjoy as it's been a lot of fun to do!
For now though I shall speak to you soon, every TWO weeks now so we can have more completed stuff to show off to you with images and the like where possible; we'll be releasing test builds at that time also, and the day of it will most likely be Fridays!
But yes do have a look at the roadmap above if you get curious about where our focus lies!
Have a good day everyone,
-S
